    It's phonics. Something that apparently hasn't been used in years. I'd have shirts or sweatshirts with words on them to have my kids sound them out phonetically.

    you shouldnt teach kids words by sounding them out

    • @z-past1454
      @z-past1454 9 часов назад

      Depends, I think you should just let kids read out words and then correct them as they progress. Sounding them out can help, but only with certain suffixes and prefixes.

    Not gonna lie, I had my doubts (very small, but still there) when going through your process, but the logic looked sound enough to stick with it. When I told my friends about it, they definitely thought teaching sounds without letter names was crazy. But just a week ago my 3-year-old tried to read the word "Recycle" by herself, without being asked to (she read it as rek-yuh-kelleh, but the fact that she even got that far was amazing). I'm definitely glad I stuck with it.

    I don't know whether i'm doing things right with my 2yo daughter. I'm a solo parent and I work full time from home, and I only have part-time childcare, so it's a massive struggle. I suffer terribly from mum guilt. My daughter is very smart, and I feel like if I take my foot off the gas for even a moment with her education, i'm letting her down. I do a lot with her, but I still worry it isn't enough. 🥺

    Honestly all parents should take child development classes before they get to take their child home. I'm a teacher of kids aged 0-14 since 1998. All u need to do is give clear instructions, and let them know what their incentive is to finish their task. (Not food , emphasize the satisfaction of learning for its own sake , not for external rewards , or just to please you, or avoid punishment) Like the teacher in the video says , it's really about editing out the unnecessary / distracting parts of your delivery. It's a habit that needs practice. If YOU are modelling actual focus and enthusiasm for the content being taught , kids will feel it and mirror it. If you label a kid "bad" etc, if you expect bad behavior , the kid WILL ACT ACCORDINGLY. Kids want to do what is expected. If the majority of your interactions consist of "nononono, don't don't don't.." you are merely telling them what NOT to do , but u need to tell them what they SHOULD do . Clearly and repeatedly. The idea of "redirection " is vital ; don't get hung up or dwell on the bad behavior -- acknowledge the good behavior so they get to feel the satisfaction of success and thus are motivated to repeat good behavior. Don't take "bad behavior " personally ; look at it as an expression of some need , (for attention , for excercise , etc. ) Redirect the behavior and facilitate them meeting that need in a more appropriate way.
